A waterfall sends gushing water along the Mid-Atlantic ridge, a rift caused by the North American and European plates drifting apart from one another. A pond where adulteresses were once drowned in the 18th century is also near Iceland's first parliament, established in 930. Geothermal fields spew out steam in Haukadalur Valley. A typical Icelandic farm is lit up by the afternoon sun. Rugged Jeeps take tourists for some glacier walking. The Haifoss waterfall stands 120m tall. A fence is lit by the late afternoon sun. The setting sun generates a kaleidoscope of colors near Vik. The Ring Road glides along the lava fields on the south side of the island. Moss has covered every square inch of rock along the lava field.
